On this ride you will meet some of Maryland's largest living trees, including the current overall State Champion, as well as State and County specific species Champions. You don't need to travel to California to see big trees, but you do have to know where to look. You will be traveling on some very scenic roads, and visiting some historic sites where these giants reside. Some footwork is involved to get to a few of them, as much as 1 mile (round trip) on easy trails, so bring some hiking/walking shoes in addition to your riding boots if you need to, as well as some water. There are toilet facilities at some sites and we will have a lunch break at or near the end of the tour. Each rider will receive a packet with directions and information on each tree visited. Overall time in the saddle is estimated at 4 hours, with another 4 hours out of the saddle and on your feet.

Directions will be distributed at start-of-ride briefing. We will end up near where we started so getting back home should be no problem.

Lots of photo ops with "giants." Not only is this a pleasant back roads type of ride, but educational too! Please contact Geary at least 3 days prior with your interest so he can have sufficient information packets prepared.
